I am running for Town Meeting Member because I believe in our system of government, I believe in Danvers, and I believe that it is my duty as a citizen to give back to the town. I am ready to commit the time and energy required to help keep Danvers a great hometown for us all. I feel very lucky to live here and I am committed to the community.

My husband and I have two school-age children. We look forward to many more years of enjoying the rich resources Danvers makes available to its citizens, including recreational resources such as Endicott Park, Plains Park, and Sandy Beach, services provided by our fire department, police department, and public works department, educational resources such as our schools and library, and so on.

All this comes with responsibility. As a homeowner and a taxpayer, I am interested in what is best for the town both in terms of the quality of life of the residents and the fiscal health of the town. Danvers faces many issues and decisions in the near future. Open space, commercial and residential development, schools, traffic, water shortages, and so on. I will listen to all sides, explore all options, represent the interests of my constituents, and try to do what is best for the town as a whole.

I support a well-thought out school plan that balances our financial resources with the educational needs of the children. It is short sighted to not recognize that we need to improve the current physical conditions at our middle school and high school. We were all students once and we know the importance of quality education and the role that the building and available resources play in providing that education. Education is more important now than ever. Let's not shortchange the children of Danvers.

Please vote for me when you go to the polls on May 7. As your town meeting member, I promise to consider all options, to be fair in all decisions, to listen to your opinions, and to do my best to represent Precinct 6.
