Comments:

Danvers has three key issues to resolve, none of which is more critical than the school building and renovation project. Perhaps the most important realization is that we find ourselves with essentially the same alternatives today that we had when it was last presented to the various town bodies and the voters. The similarities are that we are still faced with the same problem, with weighing virtually the same alternatives, and with making a decision to move forward. The difference is that we are faced with higher building costs and the likelihood of lower state reimbursement. Tied to these decisions are the possibility of requiring new fees, reduced services, and delayed capital improvement and projects. While nobody welcomes any of these, we are still faced with making the best decisions based on the entire financial condition and the needs of the town.

The other two issues are related; the growth rate of the town and the dwindling water supply. It is time to come to the realization that our infrastructure and ability to provide first-class service to taxpayers is becoming overburdened by growth, especially of high density residental construction, which in turn will tax our already troubled water supply and will have a future impact to our school system and services.

I fully support our Town Manager and his abilities, decision making processes, and his vision to maintain Danvers as the highly desirable town that it has always been.

Feel free to contact me to discuss any Danvers issue. I urge you to vote on May 7th, and I thank you for considering me for one of your votes.
