Candidate Comment

To the voters of Danvers:

Our community is facing many important challenges. The water we drink, the schools our children attend, the taxes we pay, the culture of our neighborhoods and the impact of high-density residential projects are just some of the important issues that your next selectman will have to address. We need serious, thoughtful, committed leadership to learn the facts, discuss options and craft solutions to these important issues. I am the person to provide that leadership. I have the experience, education, commitment and desire to do the work that needs to be done.

I have been a resident of the town for 45 years and a product of our public school system. My wife, Maureen, and I have made career changes to first return to Danvers and later to stay here. We have four children, three of whom will graduate from the Danvers Public School system.

My history of volunteerism and involvement in the community is extensive and diverse. I have worked on committees involved with zoning issues, education, historic districts, conservation protection and recreation. My business experience, including management positions for a national business forms manufacturer, owner of a small business and graduate of an MBA program, gives me a keen understanding of budgets, finance, cash flows and debt management.

I first become involved with town issues as a Town Meeting member and a member of Recreation Committee back in the mid 1980’s. My community service extends to such diverse areas as Boy Scout adult leadership, teaching religious education, participating in a marriage preparation program at my church and Kiwanis. I have been a coach and/or board member for numerous youth sport leagues.

This depth of experience and commitment to the town of Danvers makes me uniquely qualified to serve as an effective selectman for you. I look forward to Election Day and encourage all of you to cast your votes on May 7.
