Candidate Comment

As a parent, homeowner, local businessman, and as a 2-year member of the High School/Middle School Building Advisory Committee, I wish to continue to focus my efforts towards improving the schools for the future of the Town of Danvers, and its schoolchildren. The proposed renovation project at Holten-Richmond and the High School is a critical step in providing a quality learning environment for our children, an appealing work environment to attract and retain the best teachers available and an opportunity to renovate and retain proud assets of the Town of Danvers.

I hold a degree in Building Construction Technology and Project Management with 15 years experience in the field. My education and professional background have allowed me to serve Danvers in a meaningful capacity in implementing a school building plan and I want to continue to use that background to serve the whole community responsibly, as well as the residents with school-age children.

I have also have continued to meet with school administration and teachers, residents and anyone with a voice and opinion to be heard about our school system. They have provided with a great wealth of information and background from which I continue to expand my knowledge of the needs of this school system. I look forward to working to address a great number of issues facing this school system including, MCAS Testing and diploma issuance, quality teacher recruitment and retention, school safety, overcrowding, busing and accredidation.

Personally, my wife, Beth, and I have two daughters, a 7 year old enrolled in the Thorpe Elementary School and a 3 year old who is looking forward to joining her sister in 2003. Responsibly providing for their educational future, and that of their friends, and every other Danvers child is the reason behind my desire to serve as a member of  your School Committee. I will work towards a continuous effort to match the needs of the town’s school children within the expectations and fiscal realities of the Town of Danvers.

When you vote on May 7th, I respectfully ask for one of your two votes for school committee. I would be proud to serve you as a member of your School Committee.
